According to the Atari tech bulletin, the jumpers at A16, A17, and CE are marked 256K (for 6 chip) and 1MB (for 2 chip), and the appropriate pads are closed for the proper configuration. This is on the 520/1040 ST configuration. The Mega ST series have PC type jumpers at W2 and W3 which are jumped 1-2 for 256K, and 2-3 for 1MB. Also, for 256K close W4 and remove the 74LS11 if present in U12. For 1MB open W4 and add the 74LS11 at U12 if missing.
